The Wildlife Technician will aid in the creation and completion of tasks concerning all aspects of wildlife both game and non-game species on both Clarendon Farms and Yadkin Ridge properties. Must be willing to act as a channel of auxiliary support in all aspects of the farms upkeep. This individual will be expected to perform tasks in the field and with a willingness to travel between locations. Above all, this position must maintain a steady line of communication between both peers and superiors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares for and provides deer, quail, turkey, and duck hunts for owners and guests during the season ensuring safety measures are adhered to.
  • Responsible for Filling protein feeders
  • Pesticide use under Licensed Private Applicators supervision
  • Treatment of invasive weeds
  • Monitoring water quality of ponds
  • Fishery population management
  • Property line marking
  • Mowing
  • Use of handheld power equipment - weed eater, chainsaw, power pruner,

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capable of working extended hours, including weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
  • Must also be able to use a pen or pencil to write.
  • Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
  • Position involves climbing, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 75 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day. Must be able to transport oneself around the plantation. Must be able to drive a car, and possess a valid drivers license.
  • Must be physically and intellectually capable of operating a facsimile machine, telephone, and various other routine business items

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The working environment is both indoors and outdoors. Required to perform the job in all types of weather conditions. Workday will be divided into varying percentages from well-lighted, temperature-controlled work area to exposure of all types of weather elements.
  • The employee will be in the vicinity of site-specific vegetation and native species of reptiles and mammals, subjecting the employee to possible injury from contact or bites. Proper footwear, headgear, and maintenance attire should be worn for protection.
  • Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances. For safety reasons, employees must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.
  • Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment, which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.

Qualifications:

  • Where permitted by applicable law, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be considered for this U.S. based job. (Reasonable accommodations for medical and religious objections will be considered.)
  • High school graduate and/or equivalent of education and experience required
  • Prior knowledge of hunting and farming operations. High knowledge of firearm safety. Basic knowledge of first aid.
  • Skills: Highly effective interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and advanced communication skills a plus.
  • Experience: 1-2 years hunting and farming experience preferred.
  • Personality: Must be able to effectively interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail-oriented with good reasoning skills.
