UPS is seeking a Procurement Process Director to provide end-to-end process management and define strategies to improve processes and programs. He/She collaborates with cross-functional groups to develop strategies, processes, products and services. The Procurement Process Director builds and sustains relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization and serves as a functional liaison. He/She monitors the health of processes, programs, policies, systems and tools to identify pain points and then develops and implements solutions to eliminate identified issues. He/She serves as the end-to-end process expert in his/her area of responsibility (e.g., HR, Procurement, Strategy, Order to Cash, etc.). This position may manage others within the department.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops long-term strategies to optimize global processes and cost
  • Provides input as the subject matter expert to provide expertise on current processes and opportunities for improvement
  • Reviews and analyzes trends and opportunities to ensure synergies are established within products, propose and implement leading edge ideas on improving quality and decreasing costs, and utilizing best practices
  • Monitors metrics to process its health and expected business outcomes
  • Direct ad hoc measurement and root cause analysis to ensure effective and efficient processes
  • Evaluates and prioritizes improvement opportunities to set departmental direction
  • Provides expertise to assist in identifying and mitigating, and preventing fraud
  • Manages resources and people processes (e.g., Performance Management, Career Development, Succession Planning, Salary Administration, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day to day administration of processes and formal procedures

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrates familiarity with the core service offerings across business units and deep familiarity with product, service, and customer facing technology offerings
  • Identifies current and future needs of the customer or business; understands how business needs dictate the project's requirements, project direction, business objectives, and resource allocation; makes recommendations on the solutions-design phase of the project
  • Anticipates industry, financial, and global trends impacting UPS and customers' organizations; identifies strategic recommendations based on anticipated trends; uses detailed understanding of customers' functions, structures, and business models to make supply chain recommendations
  • Demonstrates a detailed understanding of business requirements or critical elements of a complex problem; develops creative, feasible, and integrated solutions that address multiple aspects of complex business problems
  • Applies advanced financial analysis techniques to draw conclusions from financial data; understands and evaluates implications of alternatives; makes decisions on an appropriate course of action
  • Responds to compliance problems and identifies appropriate actions; identifies people needed to resolve compliance problems and collaborates to develop corrective action plans; identifies programs that reduce risk and enhance safety; explains implications to changing laws and regulations
  • Identifies cultural issues that may impact business needs or customer solutions; applies cultural sensitivity when interacting with others outside one's own geography; leverages cultural awareness to address challenges when operating across different geographical areas; stays current on global and cultural trends
  • Develops and executes project management plans for moderately complex and medium duration projects as well as basic programs
  • Defines complex business requirements; resolves complex design issues; identifies and adopts new methods for developing materials, elements, or components; recognizes potential barriers and takes appropriate preventative measures with projects, programs, and process designs to overcome them; determines criteria for evaluating working prototypes or other defined output
  • Master's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
