Marketing Operations - Financial Analyst

The Marketing Operations - Financial Analystis responsible for departmental accounting, spend reconciliations, and the intercompany allocation process. This individual needs strong accounting, reporting and analytical skills.  Should be able to adhere to all reporting deadlines, including but not limited to month-end close, intercompany, and accounts payable deadlines.  This individual will report to the Manager, Finance Operations and will work with Corporate Channel owners, Corporate Accounting, and various Shared Service Center teams. 

Detailed Responsibilities:

  1. Owns the financial accounting and reporting objectives for three departments including traditional media, Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications completes month-end close process.
  2. Prepares, facilitates, and communicates monthly Corporate Marketing channels allocations. This will include invoice reconciliations, reviewing spend and allocation variances, updating Marketing Spend Database with actual spend data, and preparing monthly accruals in compliance with US GAAP.
  3. Owns Accounts Payable process including but not limited to: reviews invoices to ensure invoices are properly/accurately coded, adhere to authorization approval levels, contain sufficient support documentation, accurately reflect sales tax, and are reflective of any agree upon pay discounts.
  4. Analyze, project, and interpret financial results and metrics compared against budgets and forecasts in accordance with corporate requirements; makes planning and forecasting recommendations based on analysis.
  5. Complete all balance sheet accounts reconciliations and the documentation requirements of Sarbanes Oxley.
  6. Executes and maintains marketing amortization schedules.
  7. Support State sales tax and Co-op reimbursement audits, this includes providing supporting audit documentation.
  8. Executes intercompany reporting, provide analysis and guidance on accounting reclassification.
  9. Prepare Ad Hoc reports and analysis as requested.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. Master degree in Business or Accounting preferred.
  2. 5 - 7 years related work experience.
  3. Knowledgeable of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  4. Advanced MS Excel skills.
  5. Capable of working with large amounts of data and turn them into valuable reporting.
  6. Strong communication skills including presentation, verbal and written.
  7. Ability to present and easily explain financial information to senior level leaders.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of management, including senior leadership, and staff and maintain solid relationships.
  9. Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  10. Demonstrated capabilities as a creative and solutions oriented thinker.
  11. Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  12. Ability to learn quickly, handle multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
  13. Experience working with manufacturers and suppliers preferred.
  14. Large Retail Company experience required.
