The Product Marketing Manager is focused on the automotive independent dealer market and responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategies for products launched and sold to this target segment. The Product Marketing Manager will craft the messaging and positioning for products/services and conceive and develop innovative marketing programs that will drive demand in this dealer segment. The Product Marketing Manager will be the expert on the automotive independent dealer buyers, how they buy, their buying criteria and will transfer that knowledge to the product, development, marketing, business and sales teams. 

The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for establishing the vAuto product strategy and an integrated marketing plan to drive awareness, trial and adoption of new and existing vAuto products aimed at the automotive independent dealer segment.  This role will work across marketing, sales, product, training, and operations to influence and drive the reasons for independent dealers to partner with vAuto as a solution for new, used and wholesale inventory.   


The Product Marketing Manager will be the expert on the products, target markets, customers and competition in this targeted independent market and can translate this knowledge into high-impact content and materials that clearly communicate the value of our products to the marketplace.  The Product Marketing Manager will work closely with the broader Marketing and Sales teams to develop innovative marketing programs that drive demand. 


The Product Marketing Manager will also work closely with product and marketing teams across Cox Automotive to identify and capitalize on opportunities to broaden independent dealer customer adoption and utilization of our collective products and services. This position reports to the Product Marketing Director.


Responsibilities include:

  • Lead research of new product concepts for the independent dealer market, engaging with prospects in this segment. Coordinate research and development projects for product pricing, packaging/bundling, tier strategy and promotion input to sales, business development and product management.  
  • Serve as the “voice of the client” when developing product positioning and messaging that differentiates vAuto in the independent dealer market.
  • Work across vAuto and other Cox Automotive marketing departments to identify opportunities to promote existing product offerings and bundled products/services.   
  • Provide input to generate materials for product or service launches including press releases, launch materials, customer presentations, and advertising. 
  • Establish and manage product council(s), customer satisfaction surveys, feedback channels, and keeps in regular contact with key customers. 
  • Identify opportunities to drive thought leadership and brand awareness in the independent dealer segment through digital and traditional marketing channels, including email campaigns, industry and local events, workshops, webinars, etc.


  • BS/BA in related discipline (Business or Marketing preferred) OR an equivalent combination of education and work related experience
  • Generally 5 years of experience in automotive retail business - marketing, management or business development roles
  • Experience working in the independent automotive dealer segment a plus 
  • Experience developing strategic marketing plans for new products developed for the independent dealer market.
  • Proven ability to conduct market analysis, market sizing, revenue projections, and detailed competitive investigation
  • Previous experience planning the go to market launch of new products/releases aimed at the independent dealer market
  • Ability to partner with Product Management, work closely during product pilots to understand the product value, key messaging, and early adopters to drive marketing collateral, testimonials, and case studies.    
  • The ideal candidate should be able to communicate regularly with product, development and sales leadership to keep current on independent market activities, provide updates on marketing activities and provide insight-based suggestions on future product development 
  • Experience in developing targeted creative and content for advertising and marketing materials and communications 
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work on cross-functional teams in both leadership and member roles 
  • Strategic thinker and pragmatic marketer 
  • Results oriented and self-motivated
