Role Summary

The Sr. Manager of Enabling Platforms will lead a team of Data Engineers and Technical Product Managers. The team is charged with harnessing the data and capabilities of third-party platforms (search engines, social networks, subscription partners) and vendor-operated platforms (CMS, ad management, video management) to support the overall health of the AJC’s product portfolio and support its overall mission of connecting and informing the Atlanta community. As a manager, you are responsible for on-time delivery of items in your team’s backlog, and for creating an environment and team that delivers outstanding analysis and feedback to our business partners and our O&O product team in as timely a manner as possible.

Your job will also be to act as a senior-level technical product manager, working with the Data Engineers on your team to architect data integration solutions, and collaborating with your Technical Product Managers and your customers in other departments to chart a path forward on vendor-provided and third-party platforms. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of media trends, prior experience contributing to and managing a product roadmap or a development team, and succeeding in an agile environment with cross-functional teams who work together.


Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with business partners on formulating business hypotheses and ideating on areas of focus to develop insights that address specific problem statements and drive quantifiable results.
• Articulates the product vision and evaluates various approaches to implement effective solutions.
• Being a passionate and flexible engineering leader, collaborate with your team to achieve and exceed the goal to build, deploy, monitor and manage a highly performing and highly available production system.
• Participates in iteration planning.
• Leads a cross-functional team that designs and develops code that consistently adheres to good development practices.
• Construct and manage services published to both internal and external consumers.
• Influence team to write readable, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Design and implementation of REST APIs, services, system tasks and cloud solutions.
• Enhance performance and reliability of our current solutions.
• Influence team members on best practices, code reviews, internal tools and process improvements.
• Manage vendor relationships and influence vendor roadmaps to get the desired functionality for our products
• Automate manual processes into repeatable capabilities.
• Keep up-to-date on new technologies, standards and practices.

Qualifications:

• Technical product management, software development, and/or data engineering experience in consumer facing or enterprise software applications (6+ years)
• Ability to analyze data, insights, and scorecards to optimize product development, prioritization and requirements.
• 2+ years experience managing direct reports preferred
• Preferred candidates will have some background in technology / software development
• Experience working in cloud environments such as Google, Microsoft, or Amazon.
• Working knowledge of development lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Kanban, and/or Scrum preferred)
• Demonstrated business acumen, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with cross functional teams throughout the organization.
• Strong ability to translate and communicate complex analyses clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing/presentations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with lots of moving parts where information, resources, and priorities can change quickly and where information must be readily digested and decisions made expeditiously.
• Strong customer and user intuition.
• You pay attention to details and take great pride in your work.
• You proactively identify project, people and organizational problems and provide well-thought-out solutions to them.
