Digital Content Producer

WSB-TV, one of the nation’s leading television and digital newsrooms, is looking for an innovative, dynamic content producer to help engage and grow our audience on multiple platforms. 


This individual will work to produce content on our website, apps, social media and streaming platforms. This position will be on the front lines during breaking news and severe weather and must be willing to work in a very fast paced, demanding environment. A digital content producer is also a great story teller who uses all tools available in a very technologically driven newsroom to create materials that meet the needs of a local and global audience.


The candidate will manage written copy, video and photos and is an expert on knowing exactly what type of content will work best on each platform. They will also be an expert on social media, not just in creating content but mining social media for stories and interacting with our audience. 


Responsibilities:

  • Create content for all digital platforms while working closely with TV news reporters, photographers, TV producers to promote stories and make sure content is optimally delivered.

  • Produces original written and video content, daily news content and breaking news and weather content for a variety of platforms. 

  • Work closely with other departments like sales, marketing and local programming to develop and post materials.

  • Uses the highest journalism and ethical standards by creating fair, accurate and balanced materials.

  • Watches live video feeds from across the country and locally to bring live streaming video content to our viewers.

  • Monitors streaming platforms on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire and contributes to local streaming programs.

  • Responsible for monitoring digital metrics and making sound decisions on those metrics to drive audience. 

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in print or broadcast journalism
  • 3 years of web/social media experience.
  • Television producing experience preferred
  • Preferred experience with ARC, Lakana or a similar CMS
  • Command of HTML code, Adobe Photoshop, nonlinear editing. 
  • BS/BA Degree preferably in Journalism or Communications.
  • Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity.
  • Possess Knowledge of general productivity software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Strong knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. 
  • Strong news judgement and strong writing ability using AP style preferred.
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure.
  • Meet or beat assigned deadlines.
  • Interact promptly, productively and positively with fellow employees and all levels of management.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with commercial/product/technical teams and content creators/talent. 
  • Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills, with strong motivation and work ethic.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to oversee projects from conception to delivery. 
  • Flexibility in working hours: happy to work evenings/weekends/travel if necessary.
