Technical Analyst & Desktop Architect - AJC

This position supports the design, development, and implementation of Windows desktop technology to meet business demands.  He/she will implement and maintain the comprehensive development and testing environment that will become the standard for evaluating desktop hardware, mobile devices, operating systems and software, including service packs and patches, security configurations and image deployment.  Schedule and report on the execution of the testing and validation effort as part of a formal evaluation, recommendation and release management process. These efforts involve all departments across Cox Media Group, as well as regular collaboration with colleagues at other Cox divisions. The Technical Analyst, Desktop Architect will gain organizational commitment for all high-level infrastructure plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans.

Position-Specific Job Functions:

Provide expertise for various IT projects by providing systems analysis and hardware requirements screening.
Serve as an escalation point for Client Support teams on CMG standard hardware/software problem resolution
Conduct R&D of new technology, product testing, and performance measurements in a simulated development or test lab environment as a proof concept for possible implementation process.
Create and update documentation of all engineering processes and procedures and supported applications. 
Implement and maintain a comprehensive testing environment that will become the standard for evaluating desktop hardware, mobile devices, operating systems and hosted applications, service packs and patches, security configurations and image deployment.
Schedule and report on the execution of the testing and validation effort as part of a formal evaluation, recommendation and release management process.
Create and update training and operational documentation of systems for transition to production.
Define and document image build processes including testing, quality assurance and implementation of MDT/OSD task sequences
Package, test and evaluate software and applications for distribution.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of company’s strategic business plans.
Collaborate with end users and senior management to define business requirements for complex systems development and gain buy-in for all infrastructure plans.
Provide architectural consulting expertise for the Windows platform, including direction, and assistance to Systems Analysts, Systems Engineers, and other Systems Architects.
Document and develop in-depth knowledge of company’s existing IT architecture/infrastructure, and technology portfolio.
Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a technology standards policy.
Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
Develop, document, make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in IT infrastructure, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
Design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.
Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.


Qualifications:

B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent training and experience 
5+ years of experience with Windows operating systems with in-depth knowledge of the configuration of Windows Desktop operating systems.  
5+ years’ experience in an enterprise environment creating and distributing hardware independent images using Windows operating systems    
5+ years’ experience in computer systems support environment including desktop hardware, software, and connectivity between all environments.
5+ years’ experience developing and supporting automated desktop software deployment solutions
5+ years’ experience implementing and maintaining a comprehensive testing environment for evaluating desktop hardware, mobile devices, operating systems and hosted applications, service packs and patches, security configurations and image deployment.
5+ year experience using Microsoft system/user management technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, BigFix).
5+ years’ experience building MSI installations, Microsoft patches (.msp), Microsoft transforms (.mst), and script driven software installations.
Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) a plus.
