Role Overview:

CREB Associate Underwriter (AUW) is responsible for performing deal analysis, preparation of supporting justification, and processing approvals.  The AUW has understanding of key credit policies and regulations for applicability/impact to a credit transaction. The AUW is a member of the CREB market team, is aligned to LOB regions/markets, supports the UW, SUW, CO and/or PMO teams in a specific market. The AUW will also assist and advise the CREB portfolio group with any post closing credit actions as needed.  Successful candidates will possess functional knowledge and will have demonstrated strong performance with a focus on collaboration, driving operational excellence and the ability to influence leaders, peers and clients. 

For CDB the UW will be responsible for performing deal analysis for credit and equity transactions, including preparation of equity models and PAF, as well as all prescreen analysis. The AUW will work with the CO, SUW, and UW to evaluate profitability, determine tax implications and validate underlying assumptions in the analysis.

Functional Role Description:

  • Performs analysis (i.e. financial, borrower, industry, etc) and prepares credit approval documents (for CDB this includes models, PAF, prescreen analysis for both debt and equity)
  • Ensures data quality of credit related client & deal information (NAICS, collateral, pricing, guarantees, terms/conditions, regulatory - i.e. CRA, etc.)
  • Deepens credit skills by partnering with more senior Officers and gains exposure to / experience with overall credit process
  • Prepare spreads and RRSC for prospects
  • Complete pricing scenarios
  • Support CO, SUW, and UW on DSM and Term Sheets
  • Understands financial impacts of proposed deal structures

Role Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience within a financial institution
  • Knowledge of the primary functions of the Commercial Real Estate Banking teams at Bank of America
  • Familiarity with core banking products
  • Understanding of the regulations and BA Policy that govern CRE lending.
  • Adept at gathering and analyzing market and portfolio information
  • Strong writing skills
  • Maintains knowledge of other BofAML products including Investment Banking, Interest Rate Hedging, and Treasury Management that have credit exposure

Additional qualifications for CDB:

  • Strong knowledge of the primary functions of the Community Development  Banking teams at Bank of America
  • Experience underwriting debt and/or equity for affordable rental housing projects financed using the federal LIHTC program
  • Ability to analyze complex financial information, including schedules of sources and uses; construction budgets; tax returns; tax benefits schedules; and GAAP financial statements for corporations, partnerships, and individuals
