ResponsibilitiesNSA Overview The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information. Strategic Communications is the authority for guiding how NSA tells its story. Whether it's engaging with our internal workforce, interacting with the media, managing our public-facing website and social media channels, drafting communications for senior leadership or sharing talking points for use at external forums - our job is to help ensure a current, consistent, accurate and compelling narrative about NSA's amazing work. Description of the Position The NSA Media & Public Relations office within Strategic Communications has an opening for a strategic-minded and self-motivated communicator/speech writer with outstanding writing, editing and oral communications skills and a positive attitude to produce effective products for senior executives. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a small team to collaborate across directorates and partnering agencies to deliver final products. Specific job responsibilities include: - Research, develop and write executive speeches, talking points, briefing, quotes, and written messages for internal and external audiences - Draft, refine, edit and repurpose content that supports the priorities of senior executives - Share final products with relevant parties to ensure consistent messaging at subordinate levels and effective delivery across various platforms - Prepare and coordinate materials in support of executive engagements - Writing samples will be required. Basic Qualifications: - Demonstrated writing, editing and oral communications skills - Ability to convey complex information in clear, compelling ways - Attention to detail, adaptability and political savvy - Problem-solving, analytic and interpersonal skills - Customer-focused and requirements-oriented - Strong work ethic and positive attitude - A self-starter who can be depended upon to ensure the accuracy and quality of content with minimal day-to-day supervision - Ability to prioritize, adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment - Ability to deal with ambiguity and work well under pressure with employees at all levels - Able to work effectively (independently and/or within teams) across functional areas in a collaborative environment - Able to manage multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables
SkillsDesired Skills: - Experience preparing speeches and talking points for senior leaders or public officials - Prior experience in executive communications or print journalism - Proven ability to plan and produce deliverables to deadline - Proven strong strategic communications mindset with experience delivering business results and success measures - Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including executive management - Portfolio of writing samples will be needed before interview - Project management experience - Demonstrated executive presence
