Transportation Industry Hiring Fair

Join us Monday, September 22, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a rail transportation industry hiring fair for veteran job seekers, active duty military members, guard and reserve members, and military spouses at Philadelphia 30th Street Station, 2955 Market Street Philadelphia, PA 19104.

This event will be a one-of-a-kind FREE hiring fair for both employers and job seekers with a background in, or interest starting a career in, the rail transportation industry.

A workshop for veterans and other military job seekers that focuses on resume writing, tips for successfully navigating hiring fairs, military skill translation, and interviewing will start at 8:30 a.m.

Hiring Our Heroes Employment Workshop

The Hiring Our Heroes employment workshop consists of a classroom session beginning an hour and a half prior to the hiring fair. This will be followed one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered and walk-in participants to be conducted throughout the day.  Mentoring sessions focus on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

Interested candidates must complete the FREE electronic pre-registration in order to participate.  A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted for the full workshop.  Once the pre-registered candidates have their coaching sessions, the opportunity may be available for “walk ins” to have a coaching session through the end of the Fair (depending on availability).

This hiring event is being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Amtrak, the Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the Pennsylvania Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Pennsylvania National Guard Employment Outreach, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The American Legion, Goodwill Industries International, NBC News, and other local partners.
